What to Expect
Whether you've grown up in church or have never been to one before, we understand that visiting a church for the first time can feel a bit overwhelming. You might not know what to expect—and that’s okay. You probably have questions like: What should I wear? How long is the service? What about my kids?
Those are great questions! Here’s some helpful information to get you started:
What time are the services?
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM for a meaningful time of worship and Pastor Tod’s message from God’s Word. Services typically last until about 12:15 PM. We encourage you to arrive about 15 minutes early so you’ll have time for a brief tour of our facilities and the chance to meet a few members of our Southpoint family.
A staffed nursery is available during Sunday morning services. Preschool class and Children's Church are also provided every Sunday—except for the third Sunday of the month, which is reserved for a special family worship service where everyone gathers together.
Wednesdays are always exciting at Southpoint! Join us for our T.G.I.W. (Thank God It’s Wednesday) Bible study from 7:00 to 8:00 PM—a refreshing midweek boost. While adults and our Fireproof students (Jr. and Sr. High) enjoy their own classes, children from Pre-K through 5th grade dive into Scripture Memory Madness—an engaging hour of discovering and memorizing God’s Word.
Where do I go?
Our main doors are the double glass doors on the North side of the building by the blacktop drive. As you enter in the building you will be greeted by Southpoint family members who will be excited to share a quick tour with you.
Why do you ask me to fill out a guest card?
We use the information you provide on the guest card to send you a thank you letter for attending Southpoint. If you check the “add me to your mailing list” box, you will periodically receive announcements for upcoming Southpoint events. We will never sell, lend, or allow anyone outside our church access to your information. If you would like, feel free to add a prayer request on the back of the guest card and we'll pray for your need.
How should I dress?
Our official dress code is simple--wear some! Southpoint is a "come as you are" church. We want you to feel comfortable. We are thrilled that you have chosen to join us and we want you to be more focused on who you’re worshiping rather than what you're wearing. Most people at Southpoint dress casual. However, you may see a few sporting their "Sunday best." We think you will fit in no matter how you dress.
Do I have to give any money?
The short answer is no. Because we believe that giving is part of worship, the opportunity to give is always given. However, we will never put the expectation on you to give. Your decision to participate is between you and God.
Do you have something for students?
The Factory
The Factory is our ministry to K through 6th grade students. On Sundays, The Factory children meet following the worshp portion of the 10:30 am service for their own age appropriate worship experience which includes…
~ high energy worship
~ hands on interactive Biblical teaching
~ life application object lessons and
~ healthy relationships that help them to develop a strong faith in God.
It’s not unusual for children to complain to their parents when they have to be absent from Southpoint. On the third Sunday of the month, The Factory children join the adults in the sanctuary for a time of ministry formatted for the family.
On Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:00 pm, The Factory chidren participates in fun, hands-on activities that assist the children in scripture memory. If a child were to attend The Factory throughout the entire 6 year program, they would graduate having memorized over 200 scriptures, including the entire Christmas story from the book of Luke. Children arrive early on Wednesdays to participate in free time in the Southpoint gym. When the whistle blows, they come running with excitement to participate in Bible memorization.
Many special nights and activities are enjoyed annually in The Factory chidlrens ministry. These special activities has included in the past an Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Youth Camp, Slime Time, Noodle Night, Apple Night, Annual Thanksgiving Meal, Movie and Popcorn Nights, and many, many more!
Fireproof
Fireproof is our ministry for jr high and high school students. Fireproof is our main gathering for these students and meets downstairs in the youth room on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:00 pm. Students experience worship, skits, videos, etc., and hear a message from one of our veteran youth leaders. Fireproof regularly has outings and special days/events including Winterfest, Youth Camp, and Back-to-School Wednesday which has previously included surprise activities such as summer wacky olympics and mud volleyball.
What We Expect From You
At Southpoint it is not just about your expectations. Here are a few things we expect from you.
We expect you to…
-
come as you are
-
not be perfect… none of us are.
Here are a few things to consider…You don’t have to dress up. We don’t care who you voted for in the last election. You don’t have to pretend like you have everything figured out. Church is a place where God meets people who are far from perfect. Everybody is welcome here. Whatever your story, your questions, doubts or struggles, come casual and be yourself. We look forward to meeting you!
